Chichester, Sussex
This historic market town can trace its foundation back to the Roman invasion of Britain in the first century BC. The city boasts some fascinating architecture mainly dating from the medieval period, and some of the best examples include the Norman Cathedral and 15th Century Market Cross as well as regal Georgian town houses. The countryside around the city is equally impressive, with the rolling South Downs to the north and picturesque Chichester Harbour a few miles to the south east. Old fishing villages such as Bosham and Dell Quay have long been favoutites with local artists.
